    Retro Gaming at it's finest

Post by Blazing Starshine on Sat Mar 03, 2012 2:24 pm

So I was wondering if anyone heard of the store "Press Start Games"? I went to go order a pizza in my area, and decided to wander around the little strip mall while I was waiting, and I found this magnificent store.

I went in, and the first thing that really catches my eye is this gondola.. just.. STACKED with NES and SNES cartridges. It was so amazing.
And while talking to the manager, he showed me a poster about Hyperkin's Retron3. It comes in Red, and Grey versions. Basically, it's a 3 in one console. NES, SNES and Sega Genesis. I was blown away. And it's $60-69? Really?

So I was wondering. Are there any other Old-school gamers out here? Does hearing Pole Position theme bring back memories?

Also; I'm totally getting a Retron3 my next paycheck. Hah!

I never had a NES or a Genesis but I still have SNES which I still play often because I don't enough money to get any new games or game systems. But I can't find alot of the gaes for the SNES so I only play Mario Allstars, which isn't so bad though since it's such an ebin game.

I sold my NES to buy a Xbox 360, but I still have my old gameboy, as well as the slightly newer micro version.

The oldest platform I've had was a Japanese PSone, from there I've had every console made including the psp's, gameboys, (no zune though) but never a snes. Then again I'm 9 years younger than you so you have a decade on tech Smile

APPARENTLY this game store is exclusive to my area, so.. WHUPS, now everyone knows where I live!
    (Come at me, bros~)

They sell NES titles for $8 and I didn't check the other games.
I think they might offer, like.. online sales. If not, I can ride out, if you'e interested, and talk to the owner about it.
Alternately, if we want to set up a little trade system, I'd do that for you.

Something similar to when I ran Operation: Ponies for Bronies.
We could call it.. Operation: Retro Gaming!

Yeah, I walked in expecting, like, the typical GameStop BS type store, and I was just.. blown away.

You have no idea how proud I am of you right now.

Anyway, yes, I enjoy retro gaming thoroughly. I have a top-loading NES on which I occasionally play Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Contra. My favorite NES games.
I've never owned an SNES or Genesis. I can say that my favorite SNES game, though, is by far Zombies Ate My Neighbors.
    Also, I own a Panasonic 3DO. Yes, that's a console.
Also, DOOM came out in 1993 - is that considered retro yet? Because I can talk about DOOM for hours if you'd like

I can respect that. Two of the best consoles of all time.
They both had ports of Doom, too. They both were pretty bad
